My Very Busy Week

A very eventful what I did this week:

Last weekend ( July 26 & 27th ) my Dad and I drove back to Seattle from Nevada, where we have been in quarantine for the past month and a half. One of my highlights from the 18 hour road trip was seeing a herd of cows crossing the road, because all the cows turned and looked at us in sync when they saw us stopping. Other highlight were filming a potential intro to a Western themed video (coming soon!) and narrowly avoiding running over 3 peacocks (My dad was looking ahead while driving and I noticed just as we got close to the birds). The best part of the entire road trip was getting to stop in Portland, Oregon for a night. In Portland we went to The Classically Cool Vintage, where I got one of my favorite items in my closet (oversized Guess overalls from the 80s) We also went to the Rose Garden which is a great place to go if you're in Portland during the summertime, and want to take a short walk around a beautiful park, and maybe take some Instagram pictures too.

Monday: This was my first full day back In Seattle, and I hung out with George the whole day. He and I have been friends since we started high school together in September, and coincidentally I also knew his Mom, before I even knew him. We got bagels at Eltana, which was in Seattle CHOP (Capitol Hill Occupied Protest) Zone, so I got to see the important area in person. (I made a CHOP/BLM Movement video if you want to know more about that experience) The rest of the day we just walked around the neighborhood.

Tuesday: I texted my friend Marli, who I also know from school. We got to know each other better while playing on the girls’ basketball team at school.

Marli and I went to a pretty empty dock on Lake Washington and hung out there for almost five hours, just catching up and talking about things we wanted to do this summer. I loved seeing Marli because she is the type of person that you can get into a really deep conversations with, and see her in-depth perspectives. It’s funny, because if you were to meet Marli she’d seem a little quiet and shy at first, but once you know her well, you know how much pure fun you can have with her. Basically what i’m saying is I love Marli, if you couldn’t tell.

Wednesday: Marli and I talked about going thrifting the day before, and my plans for today got cancelled, so we ended up going to a smaller Goodwill and ended up both getting a book there. Then we strolled around and popped into a second hand bookstore because it was really hot outside. We then made our game plan for the rest of the day… grocery shopping! I don’t know about you guys, but when I go grocery shopping with my friends it's always really fun and entertaining. We got some snacks, including a bag of lime chips, salsa, cookie dough, cinnamon toast crunch cereal, and cherries. We got an Uber home and ate all our treats.

Thursday: I woke up and met with George and we walked around are neighborhood for about an hour. My plan was to go to the beach with Ruby, who I hadn’t seen since returning from Nevada, and I was tried to convince George to come with us but he declined, so I was off to Ruby’s house to go to the lake. It was a super hot day and I felt like I was living in a teen summer movie. I know sounds cringey, button the moment I felt like the main character.

Friday: I woke up and met Ruby at a local coffee shop, and since both Ruby and I need to take drivers ed, we researched driving classes. We found one that starts in the middle of August, and I signed up a few days later. We didn’t really know what we were doing for the day, and out of all things, we ended up at Paint The Town, a pottery painting store in the University District. Ruby’s mom likes using the painted pots as dishes in her house, so we each made one, which was pretty fun.

I’m trying to make the most out of my summer days, and having a lots of things planned keeps me constantly occupied. The coronavirus is making me keep my circle pretty small, and because of that, getting to spend time with my close friends has been really fun.
