Corona

Corona break is here and Seattle school’s were some in the first to close. Here is what is currently going on in my world. Let’s start at some high school graduation requirements. In 7th grade, all middle schooler’s took a history class called Washington State history that they would need on there transcript to graduate high school. If you attened a school that did not provide it had to be taken either on-line or summer school. Yes, I was part of that one percent, who hasn’t taken this class. On March 2, I started an extremely confusing online course that I only have 10 weeks to finish. I was already a week behind the 1st week into the program. It also does not help that I learn differentnly, and taking a class electronically is more challenging for me. One reason I was so behind and stressed out was because I am getting all my services hours (60) right now. Service hours are yet another requirement to graduate high school is the city of Seattle. On a whim, I signed up for a Y par, which is a social justice program that picked applicants at random and I got in. We meet twice a week and it’s great. I learn about social justice and examples of it and get my service hours and once I finish all my service hours I could possiably get paid. It sounds to good to be true, right? But since that’s twice a week for 2 1/2 hours I don’t really have time to do my homework and my online class. Basically I was just stressed out about everything and the coronavirus was starting to get crazy. It didn’t/doesn’t feel real. A month and a half ago I was doing my work in math class and my friend Polly said,’’ apparently there’s a new virus that might be in Seattle. it came from Asia.’’

My math teacher said,’’Mmm what’s it called.’’

Polly,'‘its called corona, the coronavirus.’’

Now it’s my 4th day of being home for 6 weeks. School as we know it is cancneled until April 24th. Apparently Seattle is only a few weeks ahead of the rest of the country. I have so many questions, what is the government not telling us. On Wednesday the 11th during lunch when all Seattle public schools found out school was going to be canceled for two weeks all my friends were excited. A whole winter break for an illness that isn’t really affecting my age demographics. But less than 24 hours later Governor Inslee made another emergency proclamation closing all public school till April 24th. Why were we not showing this sense of emergennncy 2 months ago? Seattle’s death count is up to 37, and over 500 cases reported. I am going to be so happy when the Corona break is over. I can’t believe I am saying I want to go back to school… but I do because I miss hanging out with all my friends.
