the "phone project"

So last week my mom started this thing called the “phone project” which has been an ongoing argument since the idea posed into her head. In all truth, I’m a huge procrastinator about almost everything, especially with school. Honestly who has time to lolly-gag and watch tv and play on there phone. Ummm… well since corona break… I do. Now that I’m home every minute of the day, here I am. “I’ll do it later”, “get around to it next week”. Well, in my mom’s head this apparently has happened too many times so she decided that not only can’t I only see the outside world ( EVERYBODY MUST STAY HOME) but she is done with me being lazy like literally every other teenager I know.

That’s when we started the phone project. I basically have to accomplish and complete one of two tasks of the day to get my phone. At first I didn’t mind it, and just went along with it because it was better than getting in an argument and well since were home all day… I really didn’t want to be quarantined to just my room. I went along with the plan for a few days, the problems with this for me is that I one day I got my phone back at 4 pm. I was my grandpa’s birthday and he was VERY, to say the least butt- sore that his favorite granddaughter did not call him to say “Happy Birthday’’. Because I am such a procrastinator I would put off by one or two tasks (that were easily at least an hour or two projects) off . The second problem was once I got my phone I was uninterested in doing literally anything else that day. I would stay up late texting friends and then wake up around 10 am and start the day off and my next task a little late. It really wasn’t working for me.

So me and my mom talked and came up with a compromise, which involved planing my day out with scheduled phone breaks. Now even though this was my idea I feel like It’s the hardest and I get the least amount of work done even though I’m scheduled to do a task ( like edit a youtube video or do health homework). It is just harder for me to focus for that long at a time.

As of yesterday It was announced that I have a kind of online school, more of a schedule for classes where I would be either be doing assignments via Zoom or FaceTime calls with the class. So as of next week I don’t get my phone during “school hours” of online classes. But while I do my extracurricular actives I can get my phone on specific times. Who know’s if the newest schedule is going to work for me, but I have time to trying things out so might as well.
