Supporting Others

Why do you think as a girl we compare ourselves to others in a negative way?

One of my new friends I have made since starting high school and I tried out for the dance team together a few weeks ago. Dance is definitely her thing. She’s always showing me new choreography she made up or what she learned in her dance classes. Needless to say, she is a good dancer! We ended up having 5 days of dance tryouts over a 2 week period and after one of the first days I just saw the way she dances, it’s her thing and she loves it. You can just tell by the way she moves. I had a gut feeling ever since then that she was going to get on the team and I DID NOT feel confident in myself. I started comparing myself which is the worst thing you can do to yourself and your friend. I finally stepped back and realized dancing is her thing. I have my own thing (youtube and this blog) so why should I be jealous. Supporting others, and lifting people up is a must. At this point, I feel like a lot of people start to then hate on the person doing better than they are, trying to make them feel inadequate but why would you do that? Today my friend called me with excitement in her voice… and I just knew that she got on the dance team! I could not stop smiling and her mom was even on the phone asking if I’d go to games with her which is a no-brainer. Supporting others not only makes you feel good but also makes them feel good. When you do something epic and someone is there to hype you that’s when you know you got a good friend. Please, please always take a second before saying something you might regret about some-else you might just be a bit jealous of.
