Inspiration for my new loft space

My parents and I have been living (during the pandemic) in Nevada, staying with my grandparents. Which honestly spending time with family has been fun, except for the part where my parents and I split a room. I know I say this with more privilege than I am even aware of but I miss having my own private space, especially one where no one else is accidentally putting my books and chargers in different places.

The open loft on the third floor of our Las Vegas house was originally my grandfather’s office. Since he rarely used it, I asked if I can take it over and make it my own new loft space. Now I get my own dedicated space when I am in Las Vegas, so recently I have been planning out what it’s going to look like. So, I thought that I would share some of my inspiration with you. Here is a sliver of my Pinterest board ideas, and where I am getting my inspiration for my new loft space.

Out of the norm chair

In this space I want to make it a priority to have an area where I can read, hang out, and have a no- technology zone. I will be in the loft doing schoolwork at my desk, and then sleeping on my pull out couch. I try to separate the space by having my desk facing a wall, so the rest of the space can be dedicated to being a lounge area.

Now, any chair would work for my hang out space/ where people can sit, but I think it would add a distinctive touch to the room if I had an abnormal chair. If I can find a giant hand chair, I want to get it.

Plants.

In middle school I owned a few succulents and a small bamboo plant. This is pretty much all the plant experience I have untainted so far but I’m finding that I really like them. I like how plants make a space feel more relaxed and homeie. So I have been going to plant store with my dad who know a bit more about this topic. I know I want a few that I can put on my desk and don’t take to much space but also one or two big ones would be cool to.

Sunset lamp

Sunset lamps give me a different level of serotonin. I have been wanting one of these for awhile, and redecorating the loft is giving me a perfect reason to purchase one. I also think it will be fun to take pictures with it. In the winter time we get less sunsets, so my idea is to create my own personal one.

Pattered Rug

I had no idea that there where so many ugly rugs out in the world. Pinterest only showed me the best. Seriously, do I need to start an affordable rug brand? Because the options are just sad. Anyways, I just want a patterned neutral rug. I like the idea of a checkered rug, or even a striped pattered one.

I might paint the walls

Ignore everything about this photo besides how its painted. First of all, this subtle half-painted wall adds so much flavor to a blank canvas. Quite literally. I like that I can still play with the loft a bunch, but have a fun space even without any accessories.

Anyhow, my parents are fine with me paining the loft, and I’m thinking a soft yellow or pink. Since it is harder to find a pretty shade of yellow, I am leaning towards pink.

Wall Art and Pillows

I might like to put up art on the wall, and if I did I would want it to be stylized and maybe in this type of configuration. I don’t know exactly what type art I even want, and I know that art can get expensive so this might be what takes longest to find but If I could find a few affordable pieces that would be really exited.

I like that in this picture the pillows are contrasting. I’m not a huge pillow person but one or two might be nice for the space.
