Teenager Reaction to the Covid Vaccine

I know the Covid-19 Vaccine is sort of a controversial topic, but I thought It might be helpful for anyone who wants to get it to share my experience. As a 16-year-old the only vaccine that is approved is the Pfizer vaccine. I was nervous as anyone would be. I knew it was just a shot, and life would go on, but I am the latest cut-off age to get it. Something about that was slightly unsettling.

I just got my second shot last week and thought I would share my teenager's reaction to the covid vaccine. I know some people are against getting it, but I didn’t really have a choice and I want to go back to hang out with my friends, and in-person school in the fall.

In my first shot, my arm was super sore and that was it. The second shot: Within the first 10 minutes after getting the shot sitting in the observation area I could tell my body was off. I felt a bit nauseated but also hadn’t eaten anything yet that morning so I figured that was why. I had my shot at 8 am and by noon I was pretty tired so I took a nap, which is unusual for me. I was hoping that being fatigued was going to be my only sympton, but by 9 pm that night I had a fever and chills that progressively got worse. Throughout the night it got progressively worse. The only thing I can relate to is when I had pneumonia a few years ago. It was that same achy’, chills, and body ache. The next morning I was still feeling fuzzy and I felt out of focus, I even got so dizzy while standing up I saw stars. So I tried not to do too much the next day, and by the next evening of after I got my second shot, I was feeling brand new.

Now that I am fully vaccinated I feel much more confident going back to school… My school started hybrid this spring and I live with my grandparents half the time, and didn’t feel great going back to school without the vaccine and the fact that most kids I go to school with have not bin vaccinated yet.

Now that I am fully vaccinated it doesn’t mean I am going to go to do anything extremely unsafe. There are other strands of the virus and I would just hate to hurt someone by giving them it. Technically you can still get Covid-19 after being vaccinated but you are less likely to have to be hospitalized, which I think is important since the hospitals are overwhelmed.
