Lavender Hill Farm Vashon island

I follow quite a few photographs and bloggers that are Seattle and Portland-based. Their Instagram feeds have been filled with photos from lavender fields and I so I decided to look into it. From the city of Seattle, there was a couple of options but Lavender Hill Farm on Vashon Island was the one that made the most sense. It was a 25-minute ferry ride away and would take a couple of hours of my day versus other lavender fields were a 2-5 hour drive and would take the whole day.

The lavender hill farm was just what I was expecting, the land of buzzing bees. The lavender hill farm grows 20 varieties of lavender. Some varieties had a stronger fragrance than others. The owner was really sweet and let me take photos for this blog post. Usually, Lavender Hill Farm chargers in your a professional photographer which my mom isn’t. So if you want to shoot with a professional expect to pay.

After we spend a solid hour at the lavender fields it was almost 1 pm and the light was starting to get bad so we decided to cut and buy some lavender and call it a day. As we’re driving to the ferry we wanted to grab some lunch. We tried stopping at a place for lunch but it was closed. The owner was closing the shop right when we were arriving. She had an emergency but opened the store to give us some of her baked goods. I couldn’t even pay for them, she just told me to take them because they would get stale anyway. I swear people in Vashon are so nice! We took the ferry back home. Overall was a really fun exercise, but beware of those bussing bees at lavender farms because they are everywhere.
